What is Interpersonal Group Therapy?

Interpersonal Group Therapy, based on Irvin Yalom’s model, is a powerful therapeutic approach that focuses on relationships and social interactions as a way to promote emotional growth and healing.

In a closed group setting, participants explore their relational patterns, receive feedback, and practice new ways of connecting with others in real-time. The group serves as a safe and supportive microcosm of the outside world, where members can gain insight into their behaviors, emotions, and interpersonal challenges.

A skilled facilitator helps guide discussions, ensuring a balance between openness, reflection, and constructive change.

Many mental health struggles are rooted in relational difficulties, and group therapy provides an opportunity to work through these issues in relationships, in real-time.

Group therapy provides a unique space to feel understood, develop healthier communication skills, and break unhelpful patterns. Through shared experiences and honest feedback, members build confidence, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen their capacity for meaningful relationships in daily life.
